Em Petrova     ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We have a lot of different tropes going on in this book, and you'd think it would be too much going on, but somehow it works! Our FMC has baggage, but she is strong and fierce, she has overcome a lot, and she is willing to fight for her life and her love. Our MMC has his own challenges to overcome from this past and how he sees his future going, but he will do anything to protect her and show her he cares. With some Western themes, military men, forced-proximity, kidnap, rescue, sworn-off relationships, alpha hero, one bed, and probably a few I am missing this story has it all, including HEA.

This book was an absolute pleasure to read. The writing was clever, the characters were complex, and the story was dynamic. There was a lovely slow burn with a satisfying ending. The characters were well-developed with realistic flaws. The MMC was extremely relatable to me; as the daughter of a CEO, the analytical, strategic thinking was spot on; my father also had to work at the charm and charisma side of the job, relying on our family to really sell it in social situations, like those in the book, making the plot feel more convincing to me. I did expect his SEAL background to play a more significant role, but the story doesn't feel lacking without it. I loved how the FMC's contrasting personality softened him, but neither character changed dramatically for the other; they found a way to come together, learning when to compromise, lean into, and trust the other.

This story started a little slow for me, but once I got into it, I couldn't put it down! The primary POV is the FMC, but we get to see quite a bit through our MMCs POVs, which really helped round out all the characters. The story was well-developed and didn't feel rushed. The toxicity of the FMC's biological family was relatable, and the strength and love she finds in her found family left me feeling warm and fuzzy. Each of our MMCs bring something unique to the table, creating a beautiful dynamic, and some really great spice. I definitely recommend if you are looking for a steamy RH romance with some hot athletes!

Claimed by the Rugged Mountain Man (Mountain Men of Pine Valley Book 2)

Rica Lane     ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I enjoyed this book; it was quick, steamy, and heartwarming. Although it is an Insta-love romance, I would almost say it is more Insta-lust with a little time gap for our MCs to mull things over and then come back together, and I liked that component. Dual POV was nicely done, the story was reasonably developed for the intended length, and there were a few supporting characters to help the story feel more complete.

His Mountain, His Temptation (Blackwater Peaks: Rescued Hearts Book 1)

A.K. Sarai       ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Somehow, it was both a slow-burn and an insta-love wrapped up in a well-written short story that I couldn't get enough of! The story was well-developed for its length; the characters were complex and dynamic, and there was history, a decent arc, and a fun little twist. Overall, I absolutely recommend it if you are looking for a short, steamy mountain man read!!
